The fifth edition of the scientific convocation which ushers in the research year in Cameroon was launched last week by the Minister of Scientific research Madeleine Tchuinte.
The convocation held under the theme “Challenges of consolidating a critical mass of researchers for the development of Cameroon” brought together over a thousand researchers across the country who brainstormed on improving research in the country.
The Chief Research Officer at IRAD, Dr Mathurin Tchatat gave an inaugural lecture where he stressed the importance for researchers to generate knowledge, technologies and innovations in order to develop the nation.
On the other hand, Dr Vincent Tanya Ngwang was given scientific honours for his contributions to research in Cameroon.
Newly promoted as well as recently recruited researchers were also presented during the ceremony.
